The Britannia bassoon reed made by Britannia Reeds is suited to playing all positions. This reed is of a medium strength and so many bassoonists in the early stages would suit this reed although, these reeds are used by many advanced players too. The bassoon reeds are made in the UK and are held together with brass wires and the classic Britannia reeds purple thread binding.

The Britannia bassoon reed is responsive & produces clear articulation. It has a good dynamic range & wide tonal breadth.

Britannia Reeds has been a popular make of reed since it began in 1989. All of the reeds are made in a very controlled environment to help ensure consistency and reliability for those moments that you need a bassoon reed to 'help you out'. All of the cane selected is of the highest quality with a large proportion of the cane bought to make reeds being thrown away due to it being a natural material.

Finally, all Britannia bassoon reeds are tested and adjusted personally by professional bassoon reed experts leaving you with a brilliant selection of reeds, ready to play straight out of the box!

Medium quality reed

Immediately playable but tone could be better. Needs some scraping.

Not great for me

This Reed can be very variable. Some days it is ok but others the tuning can be very bad. I am not to keen on the tone either. However, that may just be the specific one I used, others in the past have been very good.

I purchased my first Britannia

I purchased my first Britannia Reed a couple of months ago and it was excellent, responding first time with an excellent croak. Based on this experience I ordered 3 more but the croak is missing and are not as responsive.
